New Dntel Album

Dntel is Jimmy Tamborello. He forms one half of the Postal Service (the half that makes all of those beautiful textured soundscapes and drum patterns to go with Ben Gibbard's wistful vocals).

Jimmy is no one-trick pony. His previous albums as Dntel and James Figurine have been quiet masterpieces. The sort of music that transports you from the hum drum of your daily commute. Music where dreamy analogue synths wash in and out and delicate organic rhythms are distorted through all manner of strange filters.

Anyway, the great news is that he has a new Dntel album. It's called Dumb Luck and it sound like a cracker (check it out on his MySpace page here). It's out on Tuesday, so get out there and buy it. Amazon have the CD and I think emusic should be carrying it on MP3 (they have the rest of his catalogue here).

In case that wasn't enough, the friendly folks over at sub-pop records are holding a remix contest.

As a special treat, I've linked a pre-release version of the title track here for you to enjoy. Close you eyes and let this music overtake you.
